Habitat for Humanity-Spokane's mission is to bring people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity partners with people in Spokane County -and worldwide- to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Future Habitat homeowners help build their own houses alongside thousands of volunteers, and they BUY their Habitat homes when they complete the homeownership program. Habitat ensures future homeowners can pay their mortgage - this means it will not cost them more than 30% of their monthly income. After spending 250 hours of "sweat equity" building their houses, improving their credit, saving up for a down payment, and taking financial education courses, they become homeowners of a safe and decent home that they can actually afford - right here in Spokane!
