Why We're Raising

The Dallas Cotillion Club has a rich history that traces its origins back to the early 20th century. It began as the Junior Art League of Dallas, an organization founded to support and promote the arts within the community. The Junior Art League was established in 1933 by a group of young women who were dedicated to fostering an appreciation for the arts and contributing to the cultural enrichment of Dallas. In 1942, The League began organizing dances for army officers stationed in the Dallas area. The Costume Ball began two years later and the club became The Dallas Cotillion Club. In 1944, the Junior Art League of Dallas transitioned into the Dallas Cotillion Club. The club’s mission evolved to focus on social and charitable activities, including hosting formal dances and events. For nearly a century, these events have provided a platform for young women to engage in social graces, philanthropy, and community service. Over the years, the Dallas Cotillion Club has maintained its commitment to these values, continuing to play a significant role in the social fabric of Dallas. The club’s annual events, such as the gala, have become longstanding traditions. These events are often accompanied by fundraising efforts that support various charitable causes within the community. The Dallas Cotillion Club, now a 501(c)(3) organization, has remained a prominent organization for over 80 years, upholding its legacy of social engagement and philanthropy while adapting to the changing times and needs of its members and the broader community. The Dallas Cotillion Club is proud to partner with Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, working together to provide essential services and empower women and children affected by domestic violence in our community.
